Our Provider
The truth that Jesus provides for His people is seen from the passages in John 10 and Psalm 23. Think of the earthly analogy of a shepherd giving everything, even his life, for the sake of the sheep. We have all that we need for this life. Sometimes, it may seem that we don't, especially when we face tough times in our life. Because of the infirmities of our flesh, we doubt the faithfulness of our Shepherd. It often seems that we are left helpless, for any spiritual lion or wolf to devour us.
The truth of the matter is that our Shepherd never abandons us, but is faithful to keep us in the fold, even though we stray time after time. Even when we stray, He leads us to return to the sheepfold. If this shepherd were not faithful, we would perish. If He had not given His life for ours, we could not be lead to the green pastures or still waters to satisfy our hungry and thirsty souls.
Even through the valley of the shadow of death, which refers to the times when our life seems so rough, that we don't think we can make it through, His hand is keeping us, and giving us strength.
Lastly, He gave us salvation when He gave his life on the cross. He suffered the wrath of God for the sake of His sheep that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. He also provides that joy that overwhelms our heart when we hear this glorious truth of our faithful Shepherd.
