I thought after about 3/4 of a year of no posts, I would get back into it. I know I was going through the psalms, but I thought I would take a brief moment to reflect on the truth that the Lord's mercies are new every morning. I thought this picture of the sunrise would be fitting to give the readers an idea of what I'm talking about. I can't help but think of this sunlight as a picture of how God's love is with me even in the darkest night. Who can relate? Sometimes when we go through trials, spiritual darkness can cloud our minds, and it seems as if God has forgotten us. The prophet Jeremiah reminds us in Lamentations that God doesn't leave us in our misery forever, but rather it is because of the Lord's mercy that we are not consumed. Having said that, I can help but think of how great of a wretch I really am, and how vast and great God's mercy is. His mercy takes away our sin through the power of the cross, and whispers words of love and peace to us. Words of sweet forgiveness and grace!
